Genevera Allen
Statistics Keynote
Assistant Professor, Statistics & ECE, Dobelman Family Junior Chair

Genevera Allen is an Assistant Professor at Rice University in the Departments of Statistics and Electrical and Computer Engineering (by courtesy) and at Baylor College of Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics-Neurology. She is a member of the Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute at Texas Children’s Hospital. Genevera received her PhD in statistics from Stanford University in June 2010 under the direction of Rob Tibshirani. Her Bachelors degree is from Rice University in statistics. For high school, Genevera graduated from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts with an Artist’s Diploma in viola performance. Her research interests are in developing mathematical and statistical tools to help scientists understand massive amounts of so-called “Big-Data”. She solves the statistical problems arising from these new technologies. In particular, her methodological and theoretical work lies in the areas of modern multivariate analysis, graphical models, statistical machine learning, and the emerging area of data integration. Her applied research interests include neuroimaging, high-throughput genomics, imaging, and metabolomics.
